What was the point of ruining it again?

old!Scry contributed to some of the poorer design of Final Fantasy Online.

new!Scry is hardly an improvement, but it is indeed still an improvement.

I'm looking for specifics, not "it sucked, now less so".

I find it REALLY silly that I can scry people who I don't know. That I can scry people who are disguised ruining the most useful part of being disguised.

And the fact I randomly scry one of about 20 potential targets rather than having a list of potential targets. The point of scry is to find *someone* not to randomly watch people shopcamp.

The skill is essentially just a time killer when your in town waiting to head out to train now.

Well, you're speaking as if the philosophy of old!Scry is pertinent to the philosophy of new!Scry. Mythologically speaking, actual practices of scrying is typically geared towards purposes of seeing and obtaining spiritual visions; rarely, in fact, for divination purposes.

It's more along lines of what a true Scry is arguably what the point of Scry is now; it shows you a vision and it's up to you to find purpose in it, not that you seek purpose and it shows you the purpose.

As for specifics; yes, it's not quite as actively useful now as it was before. Again, old!Scry contributed to poorer designs, such as enforcing the fact that there is no safe place to exist outside of being a Newbie.

I'm just speaking about the practicality of the spell. Which is more or less non-existent. And you keep saying "poorer designs" which is the same as not saying anything. The whole "no safe place" point isn't true, I'm not sure where you even get that.

As it is, you can randomly coming across someone is about as big a threat to their life as scrying and hunting them. And the truth is, with this new scry it's worse because I don't NEED anyones name. If I scry and see someone out, I can just go kill "White Wizard" which is worse than previous scry hunting potential.

Scry has gone from potentially being "kill specific enemy" to potentially "kill anyone not on NB".

I like that it doesn't target newbies. But at the very least it shouldn't target disguised players, how does that make any sense? Proffing for Citizen is bad enough with it being nigh-useless.
