Well, given the things I've tried that didn't work or simply worked inconsistently... At this point I'm thinking it's one of three things: the server itself (which is quirky in some other ways I haven't mentioned), the router/hardware, or the server's security settings. Since FFO seems to be working fine, I think this rules out the router.
Both of the other problems will be solved if I simply swap out the server with another computer. At the last auction, I picked up some even better machines (on par with the FFO server) for $1 each, so this weekend, I'm planning to setup a replacement web server (to see if that fixes things) as well as a dedicated firewall/security computer. _________________________________________ ScouSin: Damn you Gaku! replaced the network card; might have fixed the problem?
It seems to have been running at a sub-optimal speed (orange light) using the on-board LAN. Now it's running at full speed (green), though I'm not sure if that means 100 or 1000 mbps. _________________________________________ ScouSin: Damn you Gaku! I still have a lot of trouble getting the site to connect at all, but it seems like it might be a bit faster whenever it does manage to connect.

really? i have nearly no connection problems at all, unless i click a link in trc to it i never have errors or failure to connect
