I know most of you probably weren't around for this....but when there was no level cap and leveling was actually difficult Gaku would post ranks at the end of the hostings...if you were past level 47 you were basically coming up on god-hood.

If you were 62 you were The Legend.

But honestly, the ranking system is wacky now, and it doesn't really show any actual effort anymore. It's just random dumb-luck it seems like.
