Y'know, I started FFO a long time ago, about 2008. I can't remember what month it was, but I think it was around summer, because I remember summer vacation rolling along and having nothing to do until I found this cool game.

So, I started to play a bit, and I was hooked to the game. Too hooked. I wanted more of it.

I entered the world as a Red Mage, and picked myself up a Wooden Staff. I knew the world would someday know me.
And I was right.

Over time, I started to learn about some of the players, how they play and whatnot. But what really caught my eye was the items. Oh my lord the items. And the gold. And the permachests. And the spawnchests. And the champs. Everything. All the wealth was breathtaking. I wanted more of it.

Unfortunately, people didn't really like me taking items and mountains of gold all to myself. I even got these permas and spawnchests removed from the game a while back. I was hated and I wanted gold fast. So, I created a new alias, a little Black Wizard, and maybe give it a vampire icon to throw people off. But I didn't hide my tracks well enough, and I got caught. Badly. I had to shun myself. But I couldn't get away. I needed more. I needed to get more gold.

Luckily, I pretended to be someone else years prior, a "sister", in fact. So, a couple pwipes later, I'm back to playing, this time, under the role of my "sister". I played pretty good, and my cutesy asian act won me positive attention. I was getting everything I wanted. But it didn't feel right. It was almost too good to be true.

And then I decided that playing as a girl was enough. I left, but I took on a new role: one of a completely new player, much like before. I played this role well, and I liked every last moment of it.

But then some people started getting the hints, and putting the pieces together. I was worried I would be discovered, and I was too far into this "newbie" act to give it up and be revealed as myself. No. I needed someone else to act as. I came up with a list, and I decided on being someone named "Magi." That would get them off my back.

It backfired horrifically. I was called out even more, and I was slandered. Hints about my real identity were being dropped even more often than before. I loved the game, but I was tormented by the tension. I couldn't accept them and give in. I had to leave, and I had to leave for good.

I never want to return, despite the love I gave to this game, and the people I met, befriended, and hated. In the end, all that mattered was accomplished. I created a name for myself; many of them, in fact. I was Vain, I was Momoko, and I was Magi. But above all, I made the one name I will be remembered by, and that's all that matters to me.

Vurtex.

I hope you know that your name will only be on the list of people that are infamous or highly forgettable (a few recent names; Deylin [infamous, borderline forgettable if she didn't e-whore her name into the game], Tyrael [highly forgettable]).

You will never be as well known as other people like the Norks, Ethril and the rest of Jiritsu (I'm not worthy to speak of any of these names) who have all earned a proper place in FFO's history. Heck, there are even more names that I don't know because they are well before my time (if you really want to know I guess you could ask some of the oldbies that poke their heads around sometimes).

You will forever be forgotten as another player that has quit.

Have a nice day.

I can't tell if the initial post is serious or not, but to this in particular, we remember those groups of people particularily because of past interactions with them, when it comes to me personally, I can't recall any of them being worth remembering

Most likely the only ffo people ill remember is/was my close friends I spent shitloads of time with, and maybe some people who've entertained me in battle

As for an ffo history, I don't really think those aforementioned groups have done too much to shape how ffo is(before revert) and thusly should only be remembered by those who get a kick on nostalgia and can't adapt to change

I won't remember furtex, I won't remember much of the oldbies, in 5 years ill forgot most of the people playing now

Off the top of my head the people ill most likely remember would be kiki, marcus, relleth, deylin(multiple reasons), ace, mint, and zeik

For me personally those players have made a bigger mark in ffo than jiritsu, its all about who a single player has interacted with on a large scale, for me I never met norkia(I think?) And thusly they don't mean a damn to me

Now I'm ranting, signing out!

Touching story. Too bad there's nothing notable. Even I've done the "I'm a girl" and "wow this is stupid-easy".

Sorry, I wouldn't be so prickish if this topic wasn't "wah I meant something here" under the guise of "FFO you'll always hold a place in my heart".

Off-topic, but it's not necessary to pay homage to the ones that came before. It's an established law of life. If someone works hard and earns a 4.0+ in school, they don't need to be modest and say "I owe it all to all the scholars and teachers of humanity who have progressed education this far". It comes with the territory. The fact that Gakumerasara listened to some of my ideas as well as everyone else's and shaped the game we all played and enjoyed is satisfaction enough.

You can forget the older players but enjoy their legacies without realizing it, and the older players can forget or ignore what's continuing to happen but know that people are still building the legacy that is FFO/Terulia.

I wouldn't say you're exactly memorable, more like a passing fad of someone to dislike. Similar to Dartz Aluin, Kusaname, Sderg, to name a few.

But, alas, if you're quitting then that's a shame. Even though I dislike you, I don't want anyone leaving the game because you feel unwelcome. Challenge yourself to beat all those people and grow a following. If you die a few times and tell yourself you can't do it then you're giving up way too easily. No one remembers a quitter.

Remember that time people (Norkia included) picked on and PKed you when you were still a newbie starting out? And then time passed and you turned into a hulking tank of death that formed his own following and terrorized the majority of the player-base that wasn't connected to you in some way?

That was pretty neat to watch unfold!

/blushes furiously.

edit: on a serious note: it's possible for anyone to do this. All it takes is determination, the ability to make (any) friends, gather information, experience, and even more allies over time. No one started in FFO as a well known badass or anything. Most people were picked on, most people had a hard time. The people who stuck to it became the successful ones, the experienced ones, the ones who then did the picking.

Giving up or becoming discouraged does nothing except make you weak.

To say the groups mentioned didn't shape FFO because it didn't impact you is stupid. That just shows how detached you are from the actual workings of the game, which you always have been. Maybe we (the people) didn't leave an impact on you experience of the game, but we definitely left our marks in the game. I know you kids don't remember Game Hunter because he didn't impact YOU in the game, but you can thank him for so much of this game and so many apsects even though you don't realize it. And you can follow suite for me and the rest of those infamous idiots from my generation.

Also, bye Vurtex.

IT'S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT YOU, CEA.

Who was it that first said this?
