Reading back about an old ffo dev thread by cea about rings, might aswell mention it for Terulia.

Rings that give certain special stat bonuses.

"Dragon Ring" can be considered part of the Dragon set, gives the user a higher chance of resisting status spells.

"Sage Ring" can be changed to provide an mp regen bonus.

"Ring of Sacrifice" will negate an attack that would have killed you and instead leaves you at 1 hp, but it breaks.

"Ring of Favor" can increase amount you are healed for from spells.

Rings that increase luck, dex, str etc. Tons of possibilities and easy implementation.

Rings would have to be found, have a fairly high value etc.

Don't forget the Cloranthy Ring. That'd be sweet in FFRulia.

It is a good idea though to take advantage of the ring slot and make PvP and PvE more customizable and stuff.

plus you can have neat things like

- increased total stamina
- increased xp
- emnity+
- innate elemental strength/defense (basically a ring that has innate elemental properties)
- ring of inspiration as an actual drop
- ring that gives HP or a leech/locust effect
- same thing for mp
- ring that gives you a small chance to attack twice instead of once
- ring that causes you to deal more damage but you take a portion of the damage to yourself
- ring that reduces your prof requirements to wear things
- ring that has a small chance of making any spell you cast free

tons of possibilities. all rings would be rare or maybe would even have to be created (finding a ring base off a monster, and them find a separate gem to lay in the ring that actually gives it an affect, otherwise the empty ring is useless).

You can even have a quest for some sort of useful but not amazing ring, like the alchemist ring or a ring of inspiration or something. Just throwing more ideas out there.

My only concern is something like a ring that increases experience, something that will seem like an item every character should have no matter what. But the fact that they're supposed to be rare anyways probably negates my issue so it would have to be implemented and witnessed before any changes could be suggested.

Also, I'm sure Niv Mizzet would do everything in his power to get that Ring of Sacrifice.

And Iwamori would do everything in his power to break it.

I also wouldn't mind seeing rings unable to be engraved as that would prevent people from running around with two of every type of useful ring for any situation.

As Sinsie mentioned, experience boost rings would be a kind that everyone would see as a standard for every character but more PvP-oriented rings would be held in inventory to switch with experience rings when the need arises.

Then again, Terulia itself no longer uses the engrave system last I checked so this might not even be a problem.

would be nice to give the BS something else to do besides repairs and upgrades, maybe it could replace engraves? drag a base in the box and then drag the gem there, the BS will tell you what the effect will be and what it would cost for him to make it for you, maybe have a length of time you have to wait for him to make it.

i know, what i meant was Base X+Gem Y= Ring Z, you would get the Base and Gem and not Know what it would make untill you Hand the Components to the BS and get him to make it for you, or get him to make it and after waiting for him to make it he will tell you what it does when he hand's it to you.
