So people hate Terulia because they don't know anything about it.

And you don't want to say anything about Terulia because everyone hates it.

My dad beat me so I'm gonna beat my kids. Why bother breaking endless cycles, right?

Allowance system > Exp system

Exp is so easy its actually boring to play, may as well just start people at max level and capped everything at creation.

The allowance system is both more enjoyable and rewarding, One can actually feel proud and accomplished in the effort put forth to get both levels and profs with this system.

Spoon feeding afk people is lame and boring, not to mention how easy it is to get massive amounts of exp even as a solo player with the exp system, no bragging rights or pride in ones chara with this lazy system. When you can rack up 25k exp in just a few minute's solo in the newbie zone with no real effort required, whats the point?

Didn't you say just the other day that allowance was easier? And now you're back to saying experience is easier? I mean, i agree that experience is easier, but make up your mind!

That is a very poor analogy. Many details have been shared about Terulia, but these details have been heavily criticized for not being FFO. A lot of information can be found, even, just looking around. Attempts have often been made to explain what there is and will be of Terulia. I've said a lot here already - to start with, going out and grinding for experience/profs will not be the primary goal. Jeebs has alluded the fact that the game will be more heaviky geared towards Kingdom vs Kingdom rather than Player vs Player

And bull**** to your endless cycles here. I've been patient and explained why experience is unfitting for Terulia, what it's flaws are, and how Allowance is better. If people want to know more about Terulia, they should ask questions rather tahn suggesting reversions because a Terulia-geared function does not work as well as it could for FFO, which at the time served primarily to test things for implimentation to Terulia.

This lack of public development is the result of years of people ****ting all over what Gaku wants to do, and I'm ashamed to say I'm probably officially falling int that group ever since I 'pulled a Shane'.

my "endless cycles" has nothing to do with this little exp vs allowance debate. I like allowance e_e

I'm just saying the game used to be fun because it was
a) very active community (on and off game)
b) very in-touch development (your opinion mattered and everyone had good ideas)
c) there were cute girls playing

There aren't any of these any more and that's why everyone is poopy and the game is poopy. You (the development team (Gaku)) Can fix at least one of these (b) and hopefully if the game ever gets past extreme Delta-testing (which it oddly is STILL in after a million years) then (a) can come in time.

You're out of luck with (c) unless I come back.

I wish I could answer in more detail, but there is relatively little that I know about this side of things.

However, I do recall a particular mechanic being introduced for the purpose of kingdom warfare, in which armies were set up to siege another kingdom. Additionally, there are classes devoted particularly to political and other charismatic strengths for the purpose of maintaining a kingdom better.

There are going to be a lot more miscellaneous items, and likely skills devoted to the use of those misc. items. Ever play Wakfu? Think of it something like that, with every person contributing to the economy in some job-related way that benefits everyone.

I do understand, but I believe Gaku has long since given up on trying to please the audience from FFO with Terulia, and with it's new direction, hell, maybe he's posting details about it on ponychan or some ****?

But some of us have still been able to at least help out Gaku a bit - Relleth and Marcus, for example - simply because even if it won't be a game we like (who knows it is still in Gamma testing) we want to see Gaku achieve his dream. Of ponies. For whatever reason. Gaku's a cool guy and I wanted to help, and I ended up learning a lot about what Terulia is atm because of it.

And I keep dodging the question because really Terulia is so unformed that if I'm not vague then I'm probably wrong.

I really don't know what more to say about it on this subject without Gaku chiming in, and last time this topic occurred with Black, Gaku didn't really add much, and people ended up asking for admin. Asking specific questions helps but asking 'What is Terulia?' doesn't. Hell, FFO is 'finished' and can you easily answer and describe everything in it when asked "What is FFO?" I certainy can't. There's a lot there.

Well then I guess I'm just curious what Gaku is doing IRL and when is he gonna get proactive with the game. It really hasn't had a hardcore code session like the old days in awhile. The game needs to get into testing and updated a lot, you know... :\

It does, and I do know. That's why I have trouble with explaining much, as it has sort of stagnated. There's nothing left to say right now, since everything's out there somewhere, and bringing up random points without context sounds douchey.

Last I knew, Gaku was working on the building system of it. Really, Terulia needs a better platform, IMO.

No mint, I never said that, do pay better attention to what others say and maybe you might actually stop being wrong about things. I said that allowances were easy but the exp system was easier, its okay that you get confused easily just be more mindful of others in the future.

Part of the conversion to MySQL is that the game is unplayable/untestable except when logged into the server. This means it's practically impossible to work on unless I'm at home or have a very stable internet connection and a lot of time. Couple that with the fact that MySQL is incredibly tedious to work with, and even when I get home I've got other things to do, and you've got a very effective development bottleneck.
