I dont use the google rule. I dont generaly give a shit about what somone names there character, in fact the only rename I made that was even questioned was a guy who named himself yang. And Even he didnt bitch as much as everyone else did. Pretty sure most of the "Fantasy" themed stories and shit I've grown up didn't have any japs in them. King Arthur, Merlin, Beowulf, Ivanhoe. They've got a medieval/fantasy/magic theme. So does the game we play.

I think it's safe to say that in this particular existence (FFO and Terulia maybe included), names that are normal to US might not be normal to THEM. Part of the RP factor is being able to play the character YOU want to play, whether it be someone named John Long or Kogi Muzo or whatever. Having more strict rules just limits us for no apparent reason. Thus, there's no reason for it.

You must not have grown up with Final Fantasy, which is from Japan, and based off of Japan (as well as other things in many ways) and also happens to be the basis for FFO. Don't even try that "Terulia doesn't have anything to do with FF" bullshit. The fact of the matter is, Terulia is the successor to FFO, and FFO was based on Final Fantasy, so Terulia's roots are still in FF.

Now I wonder why I even bother arguing with Dean. Its not like he ever listens, and he'll either delete his posts or come back with something even more immature...

I grew up with FF. I was referring to stories specifically right there, which are not games.

That's how the system works. Your name can not be the exact name of a charachter/real person.

If your name is from a game and you didn't even know (Such as Verdelet, which is also a real name) doesn't mean it's illegal to have. If you specifically took some charachters name (Soren) in the attempt to use the name -because- it is from the game (even if it's real), then it's illegal.

Why can't any of you see common sense? The name rules are fine, they're there to deter famous names like Sephiroth and close variations thereof. They're there to prevent things like George Bush or XDarkAngelX or numbers or shit like that.

Yet every day it seems we have an argument over some minor name from Final Fantasy or a main character from a non-mainstream game.
