Last post. Just to point out huge glaring problems with your logic.

Aries wrote:
Problem is Desh, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. Like when I was giving Niv a Sage Ring a while ago, I could've very well and very easily put my near-empty inventory to use, stolen a bunch of high-tier items from people I didn't like, deleted my character and by extension erase them, and the entire community would've wanted my head.

I don't see where the problem is here. So fucking what if the community wanted your head. At least you had the balls to make a bold move and are willing to take the consequences for it. Not to mention it has nothing to do with what I'm saying here. Saying "just because you can you shouldn't" has no bearing on "i did it and now i'm being banned for it"

And the instant someone demands that I get banned, I'd just say "It's not against the rules", and the cycle of abuse continues

There IS no god damn abuse! You WOULDN'T have done something against the rules! That scenario is PERFECTLY okay! If Niv trusts you enough to let you into the embassy/pc house or wherever it is your referring in that scenario that's HIS fault for letting an untrustworthy person in there. That's the EPITOME of what I'm trying to get across here!

because I got away with something that erased several hours work in the blink of an eye, regardless of the protections in place, and everyone else starts doing shit like that. Also, Niv would've gotten flack as well for not attacking me to prevent the theft of the items, or actually letting me into the storage just so he could add to his ring collection.

Once again. So FUCKING what. Firstly, this is a game. Secondly all those protections are not failproof. Baram can tell you ALL about those protections. Niv would've gotten more flack for letting into the place in the FIRST god damn place.

Even though they were in the wrong for killing you (and being right twats in the process), you can't exactly make a rule that says "Don't kill for no reason", cause there are a thousand reasons in FFO to kill someone, and most of them difficult to prove. The only real thing Locke can do is find out who is deliberately making an active attempt to ruin the game, and ban them for it.

First of all. You know what I said in my mind when Watabou Fire 3'd me? "I MUST have that spell!" And I worked my ass off until I got it.

Second of all. No. No no no no NO NO FUCKING NO. Locke SHOULDN'T be banning people for being jerks about PVP. Wanna know why?

THAT'S WHY

I think the problem that is seen is that of legacy.

Many of us were raised with random deaths and being killed at the whim of someone else, so we do the same when we get stronger. It's the cycle of the game, you get abused when you are weak, and do the abusing of weaker players when you get strong.

Right or wrong are irrelevant here, the point is I think Gaku and Locke are trying to move the game away from that. However, changing the entire community like that is nigh impossible, so it has to fall to moderation.

If it has to fall down to moderation, there needs to be a structure in which players can follow. Like rules. Regardless of whether or not that's a good idea to limit and/or spoil players by protecting them from PvP, since it's obviously a major issue.

Well as someone fairly new to the game, the choice of being able to do anything I want is what draws me to the game. If i wanted a set direction with no choice i go pick up FF10 for ps2 at least that looked pretty. Its choice ppl enjoy in a game with pvp a person has a choice to be "good or evil" and they can both be viewed differently deppending on who looks at it. I personally just dont want to see the game become a bitch made verzion of what i actually like about it. That is all.

So what your saying Lumino, is we're doomed to being randomly banned despite playing perfectly within the preset guidelines and rules, as well as the systems and mechanics of the game.

Until only people that Locke like remain. And your perfectly okay with that?

There are actually people who are quite strong who "never" kill lower levels just for fun Lumino. I'm a prime example of that. Granted there are more people who do just the opposite.

It's a cycle that will continue no matter what you do. I've witnessed it in all the versions I've played.

If we start to ban the "strongest" group of players from the game each time Gaku dosent like them then how will this community grow? Yes newbies can and will always join, but it's the midbie player or oldbie player that has been around long enough who helps the game with just their presence.

Well I know Gaku just didn't like Norkia. Maybe for good reason too, but they were too me really fun and provided a decent challenge to other kingdoms. Now that they were banned Jiritsu claimed that top spot of strongest people. Yet they are banned for a lot less.

Thing like this divide the community.
Having an Admin like Locke divides the commuinity.
Gaku's attitude is dividing the community.

I've tried to do my part "in-game" to help the community grow as best as I could. Yet, people have minds of their own, so you can't change what the game allows. And if you allow it to happen in the game it will.

It's funny how the whole community had shifted it's thoughts on people who PK a lot. Strong and evil people get complained about by lower leveled people and get banned for it. You know if banning was out of the solution there would eventually be "someone" out of that weak group who wants to get stronger/a group and get revenge. It makes the game appealing to both sides.

Bans just destroy all of that.

None of this shit matters. If Locke or Gaku had confronted us about the issue, this wouldn't have happened. Banning for things that aren't against the rules may be shitty, but he could have at least warned us or something.

This reminds me of the situation on Dragon Warrior: SoE, they used to have open pvp, and it was freakin' sweet. BUT, too many people complained about it (especially some-high level folk getting owned by groups), and it was removed.

Why complain about dying? It's one of the more satisfying parts of the game.

Even more satisfying than killing, to be certain.

Ironically its the exact opposite thats complained about here. If we had this problem wed actually have a game with pvp in it. Wait, isnt that what this game is mainly suppose to be about......

Funny part is that the game was once like that, rampant PvP everywhere. People complained, and PvP got more and more restrictive, and the rules changed to reflect that. Now people want to move back.

It's a classic scenario of 'The grass is always greener.'

Well it probably DID need a bit of restriction, but I don't think ANYBODY wanted it to the point where the admin wants to ban people for a simple joke.

It's not even that the rules for pvp have changed. It's just that what's actually happening is being blown out of proportion by people that aren't even in the game most of the time, and apparently these days we're supposed to baby new players or even experienced players that are prepared to start a war (according to you).
