As whining to admins to get your enemies banned has increased, so has whining about admins in general...

Also, could someone in this topic point out a time tsh, Jiritsu, Dzungaria, or any of the factions in FFO's history aside from Norkia have ever won a war against a worthy opponent that was close to their level, experienced, and could fight back? I leave Norkia out because the only instance I can honestly think of was the first 4.0 hosting, where Norkia fought Dzungaria/their allies.

I would like to point out the first hosting i played where dzung took over irendi and put cardashia out of the picture. They eradicated that kingdom after we took shy alot of ppl started to leave the kingdom. Im sure there are other reasons they left besides that so no need to attack me im just pointing out a fact. Also sense i have limited playtime i can not give any other examples or disagree with lock. Maby someone else that has played for a while can.

Wow just saw these replies....

Lmao, are ya'll SERIOUS?!

1) Firewall nerfed because Sarm thought I was doing "too much damage with it". (By the way, Sarm later apologized saying "i spoke too soon, that was a dumb suggestion", paraphrased of course)

2) Tonberries put in FrD caves because people saw me survive a party wipe and ignored the fact I had put hundreds of thousands of gold into gearing my equipment for that specific area.

3) Mindflayers put in FrD caves so it was nearly impossible to use elemental gear to train on Frost Dragons.

4) Wizard staves being removed because people were complaining about them being overpowered, despite the fact that Me and Vincent proved we could do basically the same damage with a Power Staff (maybe a loss of 200 damage on average) and that our huge damages were because of our PROFS.

5) Armies being buffed to the point EVERYONE agreed that they were WAY too overpowered simply because someone was swearing up and down that Me and Vin were basically one shotting army units. The truth of the matter being, we had 3 BW's, 2 RW's and at least 2 WW's all capped, all capped profs, in some of the best gear in the game hitting the SAME areas simultaneously.

That's just updates to mechanics.

Most of Dzung wasn't even around for that. I think it was me, ezao for a bit then gene later on but we were never really organized.

Basically the problem is when a new influx of players come in, the older players band together from familiarity where as the newer players have to pick up the game, train, learn mechanics, and THEN try to battle the older experienced players all while potentially having to fight them off the whole time.

Usually this is because they don't use the faqs, and guides, as well as silas for information on getting started. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "how do you level up" or "why am I so slow" or "how do i learn a new skill" on nsay while on a newbie alt. So really the people complaining about not having ANY kind of fighting chance WHATSOEVER just aren't trying hard enough.

Granted, even if they soaked in and memorized every tidbit of info, the fact that the faqs (and old ffo website) are so out of date as well as not as complete as they could be DO put them to a disadvantage to people like me who have their 2 favorite classes profs memorized, and what gear sets they want/need already planned. As well as established friends and allies with whom to trade and band together with.

Nice double standard Vincent

Vincent domain says: Yo desh.
Vincent domain says: We beat adrindo so bad he went to go train with newbies.
Deshawn domain says: Good.
Deshawn domain says: He needs to keep his sucka ass in New Banian.

Whine about how people hide on NI, and then say that?

I'm gonna expound on this a little bit, because I found the hypocritical behavior I just witnessed epic in nature.

So, basic understanding of the scene. Adrindo was trusted by Vincent, betrays him and a town changes hands because of it. Par for the course for FFO right? So Vincent get's his posse to chase Adrindo back to NI and off of the real game. Well that is one more player who won't be PvPing due to fear of spam killing and constant deleveling.

THIS is the problem. People don't PvP because you scare them away from it! If all the stories they hear are 'If you PvP they'll spam kill you back to level 5.' then why are you so surprised nobody wants to? So he took a town, big deal. Give him a death or two, make him pay a sum of gold for you to allow him on a continent, something that doesn't totally ruin a good opponent.

If you want good PvP opponents, stop ruining the game for them when they actually have the balls to start the fight. Give em a death, hell give em a few. Then leave them be. It's a little hypocritical of myself to preach this, since I didn't do it when I was with TSH. But what can I say, I saw the error of my ways.

You may claim you want more people PvPing, but you're actions say otherwise. If I was a newer player, even with a strong character, I'd never want to PvP for fear of losing all my hard earned levels by a group of people that just take it too far.

All five of these could be reversed today with absolutely no issues, and in my opinion should be. If anything archwizard gear is far more of a problem then wizard staves.

Also I'm not sure who complained to get #5 to happen, but I'm pretty sure that was right after Orhlov lost GsH, and I know it sure as hell wasn't us, because we saw that that force had what seemed like 20+ members. Any domain shouldn't be a match for a group of capped players that big unless it has at least half that many defending players itself who're in that level/skill range, and we had about three people that didn't know what they were doing.

Most of Dzung wasn't even around for that. I think it was me, ezao for a bit then gene later on but we were never really organized.

I quit right after one of the Norkians first got x-magic, whenever that was, but for when I was there it was almost always Dzungaria. You, Ezao, Lunar, Darkblud, Tristannite, etc with whoever else in the player base was willing to help you. Regardless, it doesn't really matter who it was, the point is that that's the only time I can think of any of the supposedly great groups of FFO winning a war against someone that was capable of fighting back.

Basically the problem is when a new influx of players come in, the older players band together from familiarity where as the newer players have to pick up the game, train, learn mechanics, and THEN try to battle the older experienced players all while potentially having to fight them off the whole time.

I disagree. Yes, some players ask stupid questions, but that's not all of them or even most of them. I'm pretty sure the issue is more that Newbie Island is a completely pve environment for the most part, whereas post-Newbie Island revolves around pvp. The newbie tutorial information in the game in no way prepares newbies for pvp, doesn't even mention impunity to them, and doesn't teach them the domain system at all. Its effectively a completely different game.

In addition, there's people like this that they run into off Newbie Island:

Vincent domain says: Yo desh.
Vincent domain says: We beat adrindo so bad he went to go train with newbies.
Deshawn domain says: Good.
Deshawn domain says: He needs to keep his sucka ass in New Banian.

If this wasn't how most of the currently playing players talked, I'd probably ban everyone who has this attitude. Its too bad that the oldbies who were good at the game and not total jackasses quit. (like Niv for instance) Its just stupid. You wonder why other players quit or why they don't play? Its your attitude. Lumino's post hit this really well and I have to totally agree with him. Way to show 0 sportsmanship, manage to take the game too seriously and prove you think its your own private playground. I'm sure Gaku loves knowing that players consciously want to keep their enemies out of most of the game. That has to be great for retaining players and increasing the player base.

Oh my fucking god...ya'll are blowing this way out of proportion. I'll explain:

Jean takes Tristram to spark a fight with Vin.

They both love PVP so they have this thing where they fight back and forth.

Vin had made Adrindo chancellor of Tristram.

Adrindo helps Jean take Tristram.

My level 28 WW, his 32 BW, and Medea's 22 BW show up and soundly defeat them in the ensuing PVP, with no casualties on our side.

Me and Vin were laughing about beating 2 capped RW's and a really strong Master (maybe capped, I dunno what level Jean is).

Vin was especially annoyed at Adrindo for turning on him after he tried to help him.

We were fucking, joking. This is the EXACT crying that is taking over this hosting and why it's a softer version (or verizon if you ask Vin) of how it used to be.

As for Magnus Li's self righteous, not-really-in-the-loop, exaggerations....!

Firstly, the first "spam killing" of Adrindo was in domain warfare where he was fighting us to keep the town. Par for the course right?

Chased him back to NB? Hardly, I doubt he knew Vin was after him at that point he just left and ran to NB. We relogged and Adrindo went to NB. There was no "posse", there was his best friend IRL, and his lady friend.

Vin went after Adrindo on his own to prove a point about his betrayal. Altogether after the domain scrap Adrindo died 3 times. That is a FEW like you said right? Par for the course right? I mean really guys? Your acting like Vin spam killed him back to level 5 from 35 on his damn own.

Now, let's wrap our heads around the fact that Adrindo is a CAPPED Red Wizard. If he can't defend himself against Vin or find some way to fight back with all the time spends on this game vs how much Vin does, do you REALLY think he deserves for you guys to whine and complain about him?

As for ruining the game? How in the FUCK have we ruined SHIT for ANYONE? Vin didn't perma outlaw him from GsH. I didn't get on my BW and go beat Adrindo to shit in NB and Argo with Vin.

No. Vin killed him once or twice and then you know what happens? Adrindo turns around and goes PKing, killing some random players. He's not even scared of shit. He lost a fight and moved the fuck on.

It's one of the main reasons I like Adrindo. He never rages like some people, or MSN's me or vin about "whyyyyyy" or gets on dsay to get on a fucking soapbox about how we're parasites to a game that seems have a generally positive opinion about the 2 of us. I mean, nobody but maybe Tyrael or Rem has complained about anything I do to me on MSN, or Lumino every chance he gets.

In retrospect, we didn't take shit too far.

We won a war, Vin went and put some emphasis on the fight by saying "Don't fucking betray me if I try to be your ally", we make some jokes on dsay and here we sit. You guys throwing out all this bullshit speculation and exaggeration with about 20% of it being fact.

When neither of you know what your really talking about.

It's driving me fucking bonkers.

Ugh double post again (put edit back please?)

To Locke: I've said this in the past, but BW's are completely helpless as SOON as they get status spelled. We have low HP, we're slower than most classes, we don't have disencumber, so Arch Wizard gear is essentially our ONLY defense against another caster aside from using elemental gear (which doesn't work as well if it's more than one caster). So if you ask me it's perfectly fine.

It's funny cause people seem to hate mage gear, last hosting I'm pretty sure when I complained about the costs of being a BW people told me "use leather or desert armor, it's better anyways". I remember trying to talk you into using all high-end mage gear on your BW but you didn't want to, so I can't see how you find it a problem now. Also keep in mind just how INSANELY hard it is to maintain mage gear, including staves.

About the rest of the changes: "Cool, but yeah they probably won't be."

About the newbies and their questions: Yeah it's only a small bit asking the really dumb questions, but a lot ask stuff that can be found by clicking faq, or talking to Silas. It's laziness mostly. As for the domain systems, yeah that IS a huge gap. All I'm suggesting is that they could be *more* prepared. No tutorial system is perfect or can be all-encompassing.

It does need a lot of work, maybe in Terulia there can somehow be a tutorial that can handle that better. I hope.

Yes, I took Trist. Did Adrino know what I was going to do? Probably. He made his choice, and when you reach a certain point/level you don't really worry about dying unless you go and look for it. Hell if you don't wanna get ganked and lose exp all ya have to do is run.

I never said this particular situation was the exact cause of everything, but your attitude is. I don't need to point it out any more, I've made my points, you've made yours, people are going to believe what they believe.

You say, "THIS is the problem" (exact quote btw) and now your going back and swearing that you never said this is the cause of the problems?

And I think maybe you missed the part about us "joking".

But sure why not. It's OUR attitudes ruining the game. It's not something else going on

EDIT: Btw Gaku, my edit button seems to be back....not sure how/why.

Its amazing how someone can come in that doesnt know anything about the situation and make statments like that. Your whats wrong with the game someone who can not be told anything and belives without a dout that everything they say is right. At least i take the time to listen to absorb the information around me. Also to add to that i told anyone that could get ahold of adrindo i was done i proved my point he could come live here with no fear of being attacked if he wanted. Of course u left that out....acting like i killed him 8 something times damn ur full of urself.

As always, things are blown out of proportion.

Locke, to say you want to ban everyone with that attitude just shows how lazy you are. Like I've said before, if you don't want people to act like that or prevent people from playing their main character, tell Gaku to code something in to prevent it, or make a rule specifying what you want. People aren't fucking mind readers. They aren't going to know exactly what will get them banned. You need to set some ground for people to walk on before you start hauling them off the fucking game.

Seriously, stop being fucking lazy and try helping the game, not hindering it, for once. All you're doing is making people fear being banned for things they don't know they're doing. How is that reviving the game?

Nothing will revive FFO.

Just let it rest in pieces and hope that Terulia turns out better than FFO was.

It's like listening to Cea if he didn't know how to write. The 'I'm right and if you don't agree with me you are stupid.' attitude all over again, only with no grammar or basic sentence structure.

Also, to Dean: This is a community problem. If we don't fix it, it will leak into Terulia and destroy another promising game. I'd rather make the problems known now so if they have not been addressed in Terulia development, they can be. I'm not on Dev, so I don't know what you guys have and have not accounted for. I can just point out every deficiency I see and possible reasons for it. I know this won't get fixed in FFO, but it might provide some good information on things to expect for Terulia.

But...he IS right. You DID act like he killed him 8 times and deleveled him 4 or 5 times. And you really DON'T know what the hell is going on. You just log on 3 times a month to complain about us, then take some shit out of context and try to use it as proof of us being detriments to the game.

And where did he even call you stupid? Full of yourself, yeah. But he wasn't half as demeaning as you or Locke are being. Which is pretty gracious considering the way ya'll are lying on him.

The problems are purely mechanical. The game has limitations, and players must play within those limitations.

Every game has it's share of jerks. Even jerks are bound by mechanics.

Not everything has been worked out for Terulia as of yet, and there's a lot Gaku has in mind for domains that I don't understand 100% yet. The rest of the Dev Team and myself are however, trying our best to make sure this isn't FFO all over again.

Edit: On a side-note, jerks, assholes, and trolls are actually great for the game in their own way. Who else is going to blatantly show you what's wrong with the game so you can fix it?
