It might be interesting to, in the spirit of Terulia, lower the cap even more. Say, 20-25? Level 20-25 characters can successfully take on any mob in the game with the exception of dragons possibly.

New people would catch up with vets quicker. Could make for increased equal-caliber fighting.

The only real complaint I've heard against doing this comes from people complaining about capping out and having nothing to do. That "nothing" being grinding on monsters all day long.

Anyway just putting the idea out there.

Honestly, I agree with this as long as profs are adjusted (like so tier 3s and other higher end things can still be acquired). Everyone caps pretty fast anyway, and this would just make it easier for casual players to compete. Plus around level 25 you can already do plenty of damage. (I can, anyway, and I always have poor profs/equipment).

Does "in the spirit of Terulia" mean that Terulia will have a cap of only 20 or 25?

We don't need a pwipe.
Just cause a few oldbies( cough Oond, Kumog cough ) play through the game and own the living shit out of everything then start getting bored of their char doesn't mean we should have a pwipe. I also agree with Dean that pwipes don't fix anything. ( unless it's one of those necessary pwipes which follow huge updates )

I for one do not enjoy spending loads of time getting my character to a good level, getting good items, etc etc. and then having it all gone in a second just cause some dude wanted to start everything level again for himself.

Honestly, guys, if you're bored of your characters, just delete and start over again. Don't nag on everyone else to follow along with you too.

Not really. The development team for Terulia works on Terulia and not FFO. Gaku just makes minor changes to FFO. If you pay attention, he really never changes anything major that's not also going to affect Terulia. Most of the changes are editing values and other things like that. I'm pretty sure the new mobs and the water temple were created and developed by people who don't have a hand in Terulia at all.

4) Metamorhpman, if you don't enjoy playing the game then what are you doing? You say you don't like leveling and getting good gear but that's like 90% of the game. Even PVP ties into leveling and getting good gear(pillaging, anyone?).

5) Making a new character doesn't even come close to emulating the experience of a fresh server.

6) Lower level cap means people getting to the cap and having nothing to do faster. Think about it. The lower the cap gets, the lower we have to lower profs for spells. Then we end up getting those spells/skills even faster.

Not sure if I missed any of the points that I wanted to address, but here's a few thoughts...

I don't think the solution to high levels being ridiculously overpowered is to lower the level cap. We(and by we I basically mean Gaku, since he's the one who's doing the math) should work to make the higher levels more balanced because in the end it would mean that servers could last longer without people all capping and having nothing to do. Maybe diminishing stat gains or something else?

Cea doesn't own all the domains anymore (he can't realistically now) and the game hasn't gotten bad yet. You just really want a p-wipe and won't listen to us when we're saying we still enjoy the game greatly, and the lower level-cap allows for that enjoyment to have continued so well this time around. Stop being so selfish and think about others.

Yep, seems pretty active to me. Two of the parties aren't doing anything and this is at peak times. And Cea ONLY owns 6 out of 8 domains. IC doesn't even count seeing as how it has 1 citizen(the owner).

And how am I being selfish? If a pwipe came I would probably play, yeah, but most likely not for long. CoD:MW2 comes out next week and I get my new computer the week after, at which point I'm going to start playing WoW again.

The fact remains that as far as I've seen, there's rarely anything going on and if there is it's a training party that really basically serves no purpose at this point or the world vs ~4 people.

You weren't on last night when there were two 8+ player parties along with several other small parties on.

If you want to show party sizes as proof that the game's inactive, maybe you should be recording data from multiple dates and times.

I like to look at things in the long run. Why settle for "a while" when you could essentially make it where EVERYONE can participate in PVP to a degree? Also, blowing up FFO because one person's group has succeeded in conquering the domains? That is a good reason because?


Uh, that's one of the points behind having a lower world cap. Lowering the gap between newbs and vets so everyone can fight each other without the vets obliterating the newbs.

Yes. Everyone getting capped faster and more people getting to the cap faster. Meaning more equally powered people fighting other equally powered people. The experience required to prof could be increased to slow things down, but it'd kinda of be fun to be able to have real wars where most of the community gets to participate.
