I used to smoke weed, a lot. It isn't harmful to the body in anyway, and is used a lot as a meditative substance. It does effect everyone differently, however (me, personally, if I get high enough, I start to trip). I used to smoke simply because I liked being high, but after a while, I started noticing things (not tripping), and it can expand your mind if you toke up and decide to just start thinking. In my experience, it lets me think of things from a different perspective, and understand social faux pas better, and hell, just understand things. The only issue I have is remembering the stuff later, so if you're toking up for meditative purposes, and want to remember what you learned, try to remember to bring a notebook and pen with you. Shrooms are also supposed to be a meditative supplement, but to be honest, I've only done them once, and simply like tripping out.

Currently I don't smoke because I'm enlisting in the Army on the 22nd, and while a few system flushes work, most are ineffective or simply taste bad/make you shit all day (I'm looking at YOU cream of tartar), but either way, if your drug tests are random, it's best to just stay away from your drug of choice until you no longer have to participate in these screenings.

If you want a job that requires you to not take certain drugs or narcotics then don't take them. You're welcome.

Also don't compare not taking drugs to not having sex. It isn't even a good comparison.

PcP, I'll simply say you did your research well, there is one point I'd like to bring up though.

The use of Marijuana removes a good deal of memory, resulting in no accountability. It is also known to limit the ability of the user to 'think ahead' while under it's influence, hence leading to stupid, and often times comical, behavior. These actions are very similar to someone who gets drunk past the black out point, and society as a whole frowns on that. Are you going to hire the guy who goes out and gets plastered every night till he can't walk, or the man who can drink in moderation? Assuming all other things equal of course.

While it is not physically dangerous to yourself, that does not mean that it is not dangerous to the people around you. Frankly, anything that hinders common sense and 'cause and effect' thinking is incredibly dangerous in society.

In response to Lumino, I did no research at all, everything I posted up there is personal experience. And neither marijuana nor alcohol hinder my thought processes, it's all a matter of whether you want them to or not, I can tell you everything I say and do when I'm drunk, even when I get drunk to the point where I am physically unable to walk and need wo people dragging me everywhere then about an hour later I'm throwing up blood. The issue with pot for me is that time passes really fast for me. And if I get extremely baked then I don't often remember everything until someone reminds me. I loosen up a little when high and drunk though, I just get more comfortable. Hell, pot actually makes me FOCUS MORE, although that may simply be paranoia and the fear of being caught by a cop when I'm fucking zooted. The only drug I can't really say whether or not I have full cognitive abilities with is 'shrooms, but I only did them once, and did them simply TO trip out, so I just kind of enjoyed the show as the world waved around me and lines appeared in the sidewalks and roads. Then again I realised I could also control whether I got a full trip or even none, if I concentrated hard enough.

I guess all I'm really trying to say is that you have to have power over your own mind and simply not LET drugs affect it, which may sound awefully silly to a lot of you, but it really isn't. If I want a drug to "take over", I can, and will let it, if I DON'T want it to, I simply won't let it.


Then again I may be able to have some control over all this shit since when I was younger I used to be on a LOT of meds for ADHD, including such favorites as Depakote, Adderal, Resperidal, Ritalin, Concerta and about 5 other pills that I've forgotten the names of in the course of history.

Sorry for the double post, but I ran out of posting space with my last post. Basically, if you try hard enough, you can keep your mind sober, or you can just be high as fuck and let it all fuck your head up. If that's the case, then you shouldn't go out in public at all, seeing as you likely will get caught and nailed for public intoxication, and if you can't control your liquor, then well, all kinds of shit can happen.
