It doesn't help that you add stupid fucking monsters to different areas of the game, making them a huge pain in the ass to train now. Darkies in Irendi just makes everything hell to be honest. They do like 200+ melee damage to me (wearing full heavy mind you), which is just insane. Not to mention they explode without warning..

Honestly, it's like Gaku doesn't even give a flying fuck anymore.

STOP RUINING FFO
These monster additions were Marcus' exact suggestions.
If you have a better idea, feel free to let me know.

Weren't they supposed to be on another map? Why not find some volunteers to map the continent they belong on, I know of at least 2 people willing to do so.

And add a warning for when darkies are about to explode like EVERY OTHER MONSTER OF IT'S KIND since all it takes to die is some darkies to spawn and just go boom.

Why is there no warning anyways? Do devs put shit in JUST to be a jerk?

Just because they were Marcus's suggestions doesn't mean they should be put in. I'd make suggestions but they're never even considered. If I was on dev, maybe that would be different. Since I'm not, well, it's pointless, but...

My only suggestion is that FFO should be left as-is (before these new monster additions(. It's going to be obsolete once Terulia is out, so why bother updating an outdated version?

Better idea: Have high-level monsters incur more severe EXP penalties, especially if you have negative TNL.

So yeah, train, run back, train, run back, so on. Stops people camping all damn day.

There is no reason to prevent people from camping a spawn if they so choose. Especially when FFO will be soon discontinued, I'm preeeeeeeeetty sure everyone wants to just play the game and not worry about it being ruined by some guy's ridiculous suggestions to add monsters where it makes absolutely no sense to put them there.

Darkies not flashing is just plain 'tarted. Srsly.

Anyhow, gaku, the level scaling hasn't fulfilled its purpose. If you truly wanted there to be no "best" place for random bob to train, all monsters would give extremely similar gold and drops, and wouldn't have much variance in their stats, just their attack roster.

"But LP that would ruin the point of progressing to new areas"

Well yeah, exactly. RPGs as I understand them have always been about killing monsters to progress in strength and go kill stronger monsters. Which is why level scaling would be best removed and we revert to the old way of monsters getting stronger as you move deeper into continents and to new areas. There's a fantastic balance of natural mob strength all over Irendi and Vorg both, removing level scaling and even slightly buffing monster stats and drops if you wanted would make things just about perfect for the solo player and the party alike.

Playing Persona 4 last night, I noticed that as your level goes up, the EXP you gain goes down. Eventually, the EXP you earn is in the single-digits, even though just 3 or 4 levels ago it was enough you level you within 7 or 8 fights. Shining Force and Live a Live use similar systems.

Kinda forces you to go to higher-levelled areas.

Well from what I heard, Solus simply made the icons, bu kaji made the stats etc.

I helped too =[

But yeah gaku's talking about how after everything was done, the map they were supposed to be on wasn't put in for whatever reason so I guess Solus suggested they be put wherever they are now.

I'm sure all the veteran FFO players can solo just fine, but for random Bob, the newbie, it's a bit trickier. FFO is built upon a large number of complicated and hidden mechanics. Newbies, like me, don't understand them very well. Right now, I can't solo Vorg. The reason is probably because I don't understand the right way to use and upgrade my gear. Since I play other games, I tend to jump on the better gear. Far as I can tell though, that Flawless Buster Sword is going to do more damage than my Fine Claymore. Not something I knew starting out. Leveling scaling isn't a problem, and even being a newbie and not understanding the right way to play the game isn't that big of a deal. Would be nice if if we had a few more guidelines to help us do it right though. I would never have guessed that weapon quality was that much more significant than having a better weapon.

Hey this topic got bumped and I wanted to point out what an excellent point this gentleman made. He certainly seems to be an intelligent and ravishingly handsome fellow, we should consider this idea of removing level scaling and buffing monster's stats/rewards

If level scaling exists to make all places "equal" why does Irendi cost 2k to go to and Vorgardia cost 500? Why are Highlands the hardest place in the game and outside GsH incredibly easy? Gaku is saying one thing and the game is DOING another.

And Kisuke is a good person to use as an example. He's not an elite, he's a newbie. And because there is no "progression" he himself can not progress. Games need steps to climb. Once you leave NB it's "good luck with the exact same incredibly hard to learn system".

MANY people can attest to NI being the BEST and MOST FUN part of the game. Look at Zadroon. That guy has remade FIGHTER 3 times. Because he loves New Banian.
By the way if you're not following me, NI has no scaling and displays basic monster progression. Hint. Hint.

Ruins floor 5 is much more painful than highlands. I can solo HL, I cannot do the same reliably in ruins. Mindflayers >>>> all.

Okay so it's "one of" the hardest places. But that goes back to before.

Mobs skills and tricks alone make them "scaled" even with you trying to make levels even.

Think about it. With monster scaling all mobs should be equal, right? Why have wizards, mindflayers, etc?

So the problem really just comes down to there being no "easy" places off NI for new players.

The monsters already have a progression just based on how ridiculous they get later no point making poor little newbies suffer because they don't know how to fight level 35 pirates fffffff

(How many TRUE newbies do you see stick around off NI btw....)

Mobs don't even scale up that much anymore. I've been soloing around Vorg on Aesop recently and most the stuff around Giant's Helm is like high teens low 20s. Highest stuff I've screen while soloing around was 28s in the EE Cave. That's based on scaling of a level 31/32
